This website focuses on the history of the Labor Movement in Israel from the beginning of Zionist settlement at the end of the 19th century up to 1977. The initiative for the creation of this site came from the Berl Katznelson Foundation, the Founders' Foundation and a group of academic researchers in this field. The aim of the site is to record the activities of the Labor Movement and the historical significance of its achievements both throughout the period preceding the establishment of the State of Israel and that following its establishment. These extensive and varied achievements are presented from a variety of perspectives: historical, cultural and socio-economic.
The Labor Movement website consists of a cluster of sites, each one an independent site focused on a key theme in the light of which the achievements of the Labor Movement are examined. These websites are inter-connected, thereby facilitating multi-faceted searches for information, including information from each of these sites as needed.
The data content of each site was compiled and edited under the guidance and with the assistance of academic researchers who graciously contributed their time, advice and research to this project, and we extend our thanks to them.
The website is designed in a modular fashion and is under ongoing construction, with content continuously enriched and expanded. Researchers and academics interested in contributing their work to the site are invited to establish contact with us.
